goes hand in hand with
teaching your children manners
. The following are skills you can teach your children that will help with their manners. 1. Teach you children to be good listeners. This is a skill we can all develop. A good listener listens to what is being said and nods at appropriate times. They then ask relevant questions about what was said to let the speaker know they are listening.
2. Introductions. Teach your children proper ways and incorrect ways to introduce themselves. For example, have you ever been at a party talking to someone and another person walks over and just starts talking to whom ever you were speaking to. Even worse is this same persons steps in between you and the person you were speaking to. This behavior is common in adults who have not learned this little skill. Teach your children to get someone’s attention if they are talking to someone and then stand an appropriate distance until there is a break in the conversation. 3. Conversational. Sometimes children like adults do not know what to say to start a conversation with someone they do not know. “Where do you live?” or “What do you like to do for fun?” are good ice breakers. 4. Saying please. Children need to learn when it is appropriate to say please and thank you. Sometimes we request our children say please and thank you but these should be sincerely offered. 5. Apologizing An important lesson for children and adults is how to apologize. Just saying sorry is often times insufficient for the wrong committed. Parents need to be the judge and help their children learn to apologize appropriately. 6. Table manners.

especially in public or at a friends can be challenging. We want our children to show good table manners. In conclusion, children that show good manners while visiting others tend to get invited back. Well mannered children are a reflection on the parents but also an indication that they have learned to respect others.
